Asma-e-Rasool ﷺ (Part 3)

The names of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are more than mere names – they carry meanings that are highly blessed and profound for each and every person. Prophet’s names are awarded based on the wonderful characteristics and qualities that Prophetﷺ possessed, enabling us to understand his revered position in Islam in a more profound manner. This article highlights the importance of these names and uncovers their meanings along with the history that comes with them.

60. Al-Halim (الحليم) – The Forbearing One

Al-Halim reflects the Prophet’s forbearance and patience, as he was always forgiving and tolerant with his followers and others.

61. Al-Ghafur (الغفور) – The Great Forgiver

Al-Ghafur indicates that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a great forgiver, forgiving his followers and others despite their mistakes.

62. Al-Shakur (الشكور) – The Most Appreciative

Al-Shakur reflects the Prophet’s deep gratitude to Allah for all His blessings, as well as his constant appreciation of the efforts of his followers.

63. Al-Aziz (العزيز) – The Almighty

Al-Aziz reflects the honor and dignity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was revered by Allah and his followers for his strength and leadership.

64. Al-Hafiz (الحفيظ) – The Preserver

Al-Hafiz signifies that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the guardian of Allah’s message, ensuring its preservation for future generations.

65. Al-Mutakabbir (المتكبّر) – The Majestic

Al-Qayyum highlights the role of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as the one who sustained the faith of his followers through his teachings, showing them how to uphold it.

66. Kaleem-ullah (كَلِمُ الله )- The One Whom Allah Speaks To

This title highlights the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) unique role in receiving direct communication from Allah, particularly through the revelation of the Qur’an. It symbolizes his closeness to Allah and the divine guidance he conveyed.

67. Habib-ullah (حَبِيبُ الله) - The Beloved of Allah

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is regarded as the most beloved servant of Allah. This title signifies the profound love and affection Allah has for His Prophet, who is considered the best of all humanity.

68. Khatim-ul-Anbiya (خَاتِمُ النَّبِيِّينَ) - The Seal of the Prophets

This title refers to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) being the last and final prophet sent by Allah. He sealed the line of prophethood, and no new prophet will come after him. It emphasizes his finality in the prophetic tradition.

69. Haris Alekum (حَارِسٌ عَلَيْكُمْ) - The Guardian of You

This title signifies the Prophet’s deep concern and care for his followers. He worked tirelessly to guide the Ummah (Muslim community) and protect them from spiritual harm, showing a profound sense of responsibility for their well-being.

70. Abtahi (أَبْتَاهُ)– Belonging to Batha

This title is a term of respect used for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), signifying his purity and nobility

71. Hijazi (حِجَازِي) – From the Hijaz (Region)

This title refers to the Prophet’s origin from the Hijaz region of the Arabian Peninsula, which includes the cities of Mecca and Medina. It emphasizes his geographical roots and the significance of this area in Islamic history

72. Nabi-ut-Tuba (نَبِيُ التُّوبَة) – The Prophet of Repentance

This title reflects the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) role in guiding people toward repentance and forgiveness from Allah. He emphasized the mercy of Allah and encouraged people to turn to Allah in repentance, no matter their past mistakes.

73. An Najm-us-Saqib (النجم الثاقب) – Shining star

As a title for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), An-Najm-us-Saqib symbolizes the Prophet’s role as a guiding light for humanity. This title emphasizes the clarity, brilliance, and significance of the Prophet’s message, which continues to guide people toward truth and righteousness.

74. Alamul Hudaa (علم الھدیٰ) – The Banner of guidance

This title highlights the Prophet Muhammad’s (PUBH) pivotal role in providing spiritual guidance, leading people to moral and ethical living based on the teachings of Allah.

75 . Musadiqon (مصدقون) – The One Who Affirms

This title highlights the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) role in confirming the truth of previous scriptures and prophets. He affirmed the messages of earlier prophets and brought the final and complete message from Allah through the Qur’an.

76. Mutaharon (متَحَرَّون) – The One Who Strives for Purity

This name could reflect the Prophet’s constant effort in maintaining purity in his personal life and his teachings. He is often seen as an embodiment of striving for moral and spiritual purity in every aspect of life.

77. Rasool-ul-Malham (رسول الملحمة) – The Messenger of Great Struggles

his title reflects the Prophet’s role as a leader in battles, guiding his followers during times of hardship and war. It signifies the strength and resilience of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in times of adversity, leading his people toward victory with patience and faith. 

 

78. Ayn ul Ghurrعین الغر–The chief of the chosen one

This title highlights the Prophet’s unparalleled position in Islam and his role as a radiant beacon of truth, wisdom, and guidance for all people.

79. Daleel ul Khyayraat (دلیل الخیرات ) - The guide to virtue

This title emphasizes the Prophet’s role in leading humanity to the best of actions and the highest spiritual achievements, guiding them to seek Allah’s pleasure through virtuous deeds

80. AKhateebul Umam (خطیب الامم) – Sermoniser for the people

This title emphasizes the Prophet’s role as a divine messenger who addressed the needs and concerns of people from all walks of life, delivering Allah’s message to the entire world with profound clarity and conviction

81. Makhsoos bil Izz(مخصوص بالعز )– Chosen to be honoured

This title reflects the Prophet’s unique and distinguished position as a leader and messenger, chosen by Allah to guide humanity to the truth, filled with honor, and marked by greatness in every aspect of his life.

82. Makhsoos bil Majd( مخصوص بالمجد) – Chosen to be on the right path

This title signifies the exceptional majesty and glory that Allah granted him, making him the most honored and revered figure in Islam and human history.

83. Miftaah (مفتاح)– Key to the secrets

As a title for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Miftaah signifies that the Prophet (PBUH) is the key to guidance, salvation, and the path to Allah. Just as a key opens doors, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the key to unlocking the knowledge, wisdom, and mercy of Allah for humanity
