Asma-e-Rasool ﷺ (Part 2)

The names of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are more than mere names – they carry meanings that are highly blessed and profound for each and every person. Prophet’s names are awarded based on the wonderful characteristics and qualities that Prophetﷺ possessed, enabling us to understand his revered position in Islam in a more profound manner. This article highlights the importance of these names and uncovers their meanings along with the history that comes with them.

34. Al-Quddus (القدّوس) – The Most Sacred

 Al-Quddus refers to the ultimate purity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as he was free from any form of impurity or sin, embodying divine holiness.

35. Al-Mutakabbir (المتكبّر)– The Supreme

Al-Mutakabbir reflects the Prophet’s position as the one who holds a supreme status in the eyes of Allah, and no one compares to him in nobility.

36. Al-Jabbar (الجبار) – The Compeller

Al-Jabbar indicates that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a compeller of people toward the truth, enforcing the commands of Allah with justice.

37. Al-Razzaq (الرزاق) – The Provider

Al-Razzaq reflects that all sustenance and blessings flow from Allah, with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) being a means through which people are guided to the right path.

38. Al-Fattah (الفتّاح) – The Opener

Al-Fattah refers to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as the one who opens the doors to guidance, knowledge, and divine mercy, making things clear to humanity.

39. Al-Qayyum (القيّوم)– The Sustainer

Al-Qayyum highlights the role of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as the one who sustained the faith of his followers through his teachings, showing them how to uphold it.

40. Al-Wahhab (الوهّاب) – The Supreme Bestower

Al-Wahhab indicates that Prophet Muhammad ((ﷺ) is a source of blessings bestowed upon humanity by Allah, providing guidance, wisdom, and mercy.

41. Al-Jalil (الجليل)– The Majestic

Al-Jalil signifies the grandeur of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), reflecting his nobility, dignity, and excellence.

42. Al-Karim (الكريم) – The Most Generous

This name signifies the immense generosity of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in both spirit and material wealth, always ready to help others.

43. Al-Shaheed (الشهيد)– The Observer

The All Observing Witness: Al-Shaheed means that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is a witness over the actions of mankind and will testify for or against them on the Day of Judgment

44. Al-Majid (المجيد) – The Glorious

Al-Majid reflects the glorious and exalted status of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)as he is honored and praised by Allah and his followers.

45. Al-Baqi (الباقي) – The Ever-Surviving

The Ever-Surviving: Al-Baqi signifies that the legacy of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his teachings will endure forever, far beyond his physical life.

46. Al-Warith (الوارث) – The Inheritor

Al-Warith refers to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) inheriting the wisdom and teachings of all the previous prophets, continuing their divine message.

47. Al-Rashid (الرشيد) – The Guide to the Right Path

Al-Rashid reflects the Prophet’s role as the perfect guide, leading humanity to the correct path of righteousness and submission to Allah.

48. Al-Sabir (الصابر) – The Patient

Al-Sabir signifies the extraordinary patience of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in enduring the hardships and opposition he faced in delivering the message of Islam.

49. Al-Wadud (الودود) – The Most Loving

Al-Wadud reflects the Prophet’s deep love and affection for his followers, providing guidance with mercy and care.

50. Al-Basir (البصير) – The All-Seeing

Al-Basir signifies that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had the ability to see the hearts and intentions of people, guiding them accordingly.

51. Al-Sami (السمع) – The All-Hearing

 

Al-Sami reflects the Prophet’s capacity to hear the concerns and supplications of his followers, interceding for them when needed.

52. Al-Qadir (القادر) – The Omnipotent

Al-Qadir signifies the immense power and authority of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was endowed with the strength to carry out Allah’s commands.

53. Al-Qawiyy (القوي) - The All-Strong

Al-Qawiyy reflects Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) strength, both physically and spiritually, in upholding the message of Islam.

54. Al-Matin (المتين) – The Firm One

Al-Matin signifies the strength and steadfastness of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)in his mission, unwavering in his commitment to the truth.

55. Al-Latif (اللطيف)– The Subtle One

Al-Latif refers to the gentle and subtle nature of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who conveyed Allah’s message with kindness and tenderness.

56. Al-Hakeem (الحكيم) – The All-Wise

Al-Hakeem reflects the immense wisdom of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), whose decisions and teachings were always guided by divine wisdom.

57. Al-Khabir (الخبير) – The All-Aware

Al-Khabir signifies Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) profound awareness and understanding of people’s hearts, as well as the secrets of the world.

58. Al-Halim (الحليم) – The Forbearing One

Al-Halim reflects the Prophet’s forbearance and patience, as he was always forgiving and tolerant with his followers and others.

59.Al-Munir (المنير) – The Illuminating

Al-Munir reflects the Prophet’s ability to illuminate hearts with the truth of Islam.

60.Al-Muqaddim (المقدّم) – The Expediter

Al-Muqaddim means the one who precedes, reflecting the Prophet’s leadership in guiding humanity toward righteousness.
