When it comes to worship, intention plays a significant role. If someone follows the sunnah without being fully conscious of it, they still receive reward for their actions, but it’s typically less than someone who purposefully intends to follow the sunnah.

That said, a person wo consistently practices the sunnah doesn’t need to consciously remind themselves that they’re doing so every single time; they’ll still earn the rewards associated with those actions.
